Hyland Cinema

Hyland Cinema is London’s historic arthouse cinema, showcasing the best art and international films from around the world. Originally opened as the Elmwood in the 1930s, this vintage 400-seat single-screen theater was renamed the Hyland in 1959 and has been a beloved neighborhood cinema for decades. The independently owned and operated venue holds the distinction of being London’s oldest cinema.

The cinema features a beautifully preserved vintage interior with traditional curtains that open and close before each show, a small stage, and classic concession offerings. Known for screening films from Toronto, Cannes, and Sundance Film Festivals, Hyland Cinema provides a platform for independent, art, and foreign films that often don’t play anywhere else in London. The venue also hosts special series including Horror at the Hyland, Retromania, and the Western Film Series, making it a cultural hub for film enthusiasts.
