Dundas Place
Dundas Place is London’s first flexible street, a dynamic destination for shopping, dining, art, and celebration in downtown London. From Wellington to Ridout Streets, this innovative streetscape is shared by pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. With extra wide sidewalks and no curbs, parking spaces can easily transform into patios, be used for sidewalk sales, or by street performers.
The $27 million project completed in 2019 transformed Dundas Street into a curbless, flexible space that can be closed to vehicle traffic for special events and programming. Inspired by London’s relationship with the Thames River, the unique wave-like streetscape incorporates over 700,000 new bricks and features both fixed and movable elements designed to accommodate everything from concerts and festivals to markets and community celebrations.
