Eldon House

Eldon House

Eldon House is London’s oldest remaining residence, built in 1834 by Captain John Harris, R.N., who served as treasurer of the London District. Virtually unchanged since the nineteenth century, the house contains family heirlooms, furnishings and priceless treasures of the Harris Family who occupied it for four generations over 125 years.

The museum offers self-guided tours with historical interpreters available to answer questions and provide assistance. The house is an excellent example of Georgian and Regency architectural styles and is surrounded by beautiful 19th-century style gardens that are considered among the most beautiful in the city. In 1960, the Harris family donated the house with most of its furnishings and eleven acres of land to the City of London for use as a museum and park.
